Hey guys,

I'm new with this so please bear with me. I am currently applying to dental schools but I'm nervous about my chances of getting in.

My overall GPA is 3.24,
science GPA is 2.87,
DAT AA is 20
PAT is 17.

I have about 200 hours of dental shadowing which is split in the US and India. I have been a volunteer in India.

What do you guys think about my chances of getting into dental school? Can you help me with any suitable back up options? Thanks in advance for the help.

Your AA is good but NOT good enough to overcome the low GPA. 17 in PAT isn't gonna help either. I'd say apply if you have the money but get ready to do SMP.

I think you will need to do a masters, and do well in that, to have any chance. Your sGPA is just too low. Best of luck.👍

Thanks for the advice. What exactly is a SMP?

Special masters program, different universities offer them in varying areas, they range in completion time from maybe 9 mos- 2 yrs. they are geared for prehealth candidates to review relevant material and boost low gpa. Masters of clinical anatomy and physiology is an 18 mos smp that a university by me offers.

Not good enough to get in this cycle. Must do something to bring gpa up (masters), & retake Dat because of the 17 Pat score+ with your low GPA 20aa isn't good enough
