Hi everyone, I'm a 3rd year and interested in applying into Ophtho. I think my step score is fairly weak so I just wanted some advice on applications. I guess first and foremost whether Optho is still a realistic goal. What I should do from here on in, and also if there are any programs that I should try and look into.

Step 1: 227
Top 20 med school
Publications/abstracts: 1st and 3rd on 2 ARVO abstracts, 2nd author pub in Cardiology, 5th author pub in Ophtho.
Clerkship year grades: All high passes and a Pass in Neuro

Never been good at these tests, hence no honors in clerkship year despite good comments. Thanks!

You'll probably see the same advice plastered to everyone who posts a similar post.

1. Do well on Step 2, do it early so the programs see your score
2. You have solid research in your app, make sure you get great letters of recommendation
3. Apply broadly. Don't limit yourself to one geographic area
