I recently got accepted into the Advanced Standing Program in Boston University. I need your advice on
1. The graduate date would be in July, which means missing most of the postdoctoral residency programs?
2. Clinical training for only 14 months. For some states, to apply for the license needs minimal supervised hours, which might not be enough?

I like the school and the city while I am hesitate about the late graduate date and not sure about the clinial intensity. Will it prepare me well for the real world?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Congrats on the acceptance, I have heard it is very tough due to the immense competition.

As far as I am aware going through the AS program grants you a DMD and status as a graduate of an ADA accredited school/undergraduate. I'm sure someone will correct me on this but that should be enough for all the states except for maybe NY, who have some weird requirements with hours and high school. You may graduate in July, but I have known residents from BU and currently co-residents from BU who are in the program with me with no issues starting on time after dental school.
School is only going to make sure you have the minimum requirements you need to know your way around a mouth, you get better and more exposure afterwards when you practice dentistry. Take CE's etc. and it sounds like you already are a dentist from overseas, so you already have a foothold into dentistry. And residency after will show you things that you only get cursory exposure to in school.

Thank you so much for your advice. I appreciate your help and your insight to the field.

Hi! Congrats on your acceptance. When was your interview held? I applied for my AS prog in July this year and received the invitation to interview a couple of days ago. Do they take a long time to send the exact interview date? How was your interview? Thank you.
