My advisor recently asked if I'd be interested in co-authoring a book chapter with her. To which, I emphatically replied "Yes!". However, I've never worked on a book chapter before and it seems like a completely different beast than journal articles. Does anyone have advice on writing book chapters?

In my experience (based on the book chapters I've worked on), they tend to essentially be lit reviews and syntheses. Think of it as taking the standard intro section (or, better yet, the intro to your thesis or dissertation), expanding on it a bit with some critical commentary, and then suggesting future directions and/or areas that need to be addressed.
