Advice on how to be efficient?

Looking for advice on how to be more efficient during residency, pls? Specific strategies for all kinds of tasks would be really helpful (from doing h&p's, to seeing & writing notes on pts in the morning, doing discharges, clinic dictations, signouts, etc.)--thx so much

You will need to find a system for yourself--and it's not the same for everybody. For me--I found that i saved time by sitting on the computer with all my progress notes for me, and I finish jutting the meds/labs/vitals down of every patient before I round on them. I list all the pending labs. I make the orders I feel comfortable doing, and write down the ones I would ask during rounds. As for discharging, GET THE DISCHARGE PLANNERS involved early!!! I write down all the home meds and follow ups so I dont have to chase after a chart for dictation.
