Hi all!

I am currently pursuing a one-year formal post-bac premed program. It's been going great and I look forward to finishing the program, taking the MCAT in June and applying to med schools.

Because some Schools that I am interested in applying to require a one-semester course in biochemistry and one-semester course in upper-level biology, I am considering taking one or all of these courses online, either in the Spring or during my glide year.

I was wondering if any of you have any experience or insights with regards to the following online versions of these classes:

- Online Medical Biology II at the University of New England, taught by Ginger Fisher

(I get that this is not a upper-division bio course, so if I took this course online, I would take the upper-level bio elective at my home institution and this Bio 2 course online; I just can't take both bio classes in-person due to scheduling conflicts)

- BIOS E-10 Introduction to Biochemistry at Harvard Extension, taught by Robin Lynn Hayes

- BC 351 Principles of Biochemistry at Colorado State University, taught by Aaron Sholders

- MCELLBI X26 The Biology of Cancer at Berkeley Extension, taught by David Lieu

(As for the viability of online classes, I have called the admissions offices of several top 20 med schools and they all said they were fine with online classes, particularly to fulfill the biochem and upper-level bio requirements, and that it would be OK too if it meant I had to take one online class to fulfill a core prerequisite (Bio 2)).

I would welcome any advice from anyone who has previously taken these classes, in the form of insights about the professors teaching them, grading modes (how many tests, etc.), and whether such classes were helpful to prepare for the MCAT.

Many thanks!

I don't have much to add, being new at this myself, but if you plan to apply in TX, TMDSAS doesn't take intro to biochem... as far as I know. Though I think only a few schools require biochem. Check out the req's page.
