Advice on returning to school

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If all you did was P1 year then I would get out now and change your major. Find something else you like and do it. I wish I got out of pharmacy my P1 year.

If you could not handle P1, I would be very concerned about your ability to handle P2 and P3 years. I understand things happen that can cause distractions and poor performance, but you are risking a lot of money if you misstep again. Also, you need to seriously consider why you are doing pharmacy. I advise you look at job prospects in the area you want to work right now and consider how much worse those will be in 4 more years as saturation continues to grow.

Have you actually been accepted at another school? Back in the day, professional programs very rarely accepted flunk-outs from other programs. I suppose with the lessening standards that may have changed.

Unless you have a clear problem causing you to do poorly your first year, and you've been able to find a solution to that problem, then I would not recommend going back. It only gets harder, MUCH harder after 1st year.

I have been accepted elsewhere and have addressed the issue which caused me do not do well. I’m conflicted about returning to my former school to start over or attending the one I was newly accepted to.

Go to whichever is cheaper.

Unless there is a major cost difference and prestige/ranking difference, you should strongly consider going to a different school and not the original school you failed out of.

I would also think real hard about whether or not you want to do the work after school. School is not hard, working 30 years is. If you do not have some (>1200 hours) experience in the environment, you should consider doing that then reevaluating your decision.
