okay, so I've have done numerous searches but I have not found an answer to my question.

Here goes.

Is it appropiate for men to wear scrubs shirt with 3 pockets. like this:

I am a big fan of the extra pockets. they're great to stuff a wallet, cell phone, or pen. I have worn this top for years as a dental assistant. I always got **** because guys usually wear the scrub tops with just the chest pocket.

Also do most school require you to tuck your scrubs in? If so, then obviously this shirt wouldn't make sense.

Another question, do men wear boot leg scrubs or cargo pocket scrubs?

At UTHSCSA, everyone got the same scrubs at the Welcome to the Profession Ceremony last year... 3-pocket scrub tops. I personally think they are more feminine. The guys in clinic where the single pocket tops. As far as pants are concerned, I have seen guys wear both. If you like the extra pockets, and don't want to get the 3-pocket top, then I would get the cargo pants. Also, some schools will require you to tuck your scrub tops in, so you will want to have the single pocket top as you already mentioned.

yeah I remember someone telling me that it was ok as a DA to wear a 3 pocket shirt, but not as a dentist.

So then it becomes what kind of cargo pants to wear if I have to wear a single pocket shirt. I hate the draw strings because they always come undone.....

What do other guys in here wear?

The cheapest scrubs you can buy. No pocket on top, single pocket on my butt.

Don't get cargo scrubs.

at UIC we wear scrubs every day. So now, I wont be just buying the cheapest scrubs possible. If I have to wear them 10 hours a day for 4 years, I'd like to be happy with them.

Why would you not reccommend cargo scrubs? Also with only one pocket how to hold a wallet, cell phone, and keys when you go out to lunch?

I prefer to tote around my man bag instead of dressing like I'm going into combat. That's all.

3-pocket scrubs are feminine and also more appropriate for assistants. At my school we are issued 1-pocket scrubs and many people would tear a hole in their disposable gown over it so that they have access to a pen. I preferred a cargo pants that I can reach below my gown where I keep my pen, to-do list, and pt or clinic papers.
If you tie the drawstring well, it shouldn't come undone. There are scrub pants for men that have an elastic waist band and a zipper fly if you look for it, probably both with or without cargo pockets.
My school didn't have a policy for tucking in shirts.
Do female students at other schools tuck in their tops and roll down their waist bands? Is it because the pant legs or too long or just fashionable?

The DS2 girls at UDM largely refuse to wear their scrub tops, instead they wear just the scrub bottom with a really short, tight tee-shirt on top. In some cases they role the scrub pants so their whale tail sticks out of their pants and skin is visible when they bend over. It looks really unprofessional, and no matter how many times we are lectured on the dress code, they still do it. Now some of the buffer male students are doing it too, minus the throng showing. Some of the hygiene girls have started as well. When these students get to clinic they are in for a rude, deserved awakening!

As for the what is appropriate to wear as a guy; wear whatever scrubs are most comfortable to you. We have lots of guys who go with the 3 pocket scrub top look and lots of guys who rock the boot cut pants. Nobody will care what your scrubs look like after the first few weeks anyway. Most scrubs are unisex anyway, so if a more traditionally "feminine" scrub item appeals to you more, by all means wear it and don't give it a second thought. You are there to learn and treat patients, not walk the runway, so people won't even notice the difference most likely. We are all too tired to check each other out anymore....which is probably why some of the girls feel the need to wear G-strings and tight tee-shirts with their scrubs pants--for attention!

Do all students at UDM wear the same scrubs? or did you have to buy your own? ..................... Just wondering b/c I'm going to UDM this fall!

VCU has a "scrubs uniform" as well. Each class has their own color scrubs with your name and 'Dentistry (year of grad)' on the chest... that follow you through your 4 yrs. We order them together, receive them together etc.

For instance, 4th yr is Navy, 3rd yr is Royal, 2nd yr is Wine and not sure what 1st yr will be.

We buy our own. The first or second week of school we will be hosting a scrub sale for your class, where you can get UDM scrubs, but they are more expensive than just going to Scrubs and Beyond, Lydia's online, or even Wal-Mart and buying plain solid scrubs. Any color you want. Don't forget your welcome class of 2012 picnic with our class next weekend, we are looking forward to meeting all of you!

Better make sure to be prepared to replace one of those bad boys. 5 pair for 4 years! Talk about holey crotch and blood stain scrubs! EWWWW. Well, at least you don't have to worry about your wardrobe over the next 4 years.

Congrats on the B-/B by the way.

Ha..i know. We get 2 new pair every year after this...but still thats a grand total of 11 pair of scrubs for the next 4 years. Our other option is to wear a dress shirt and tie with our white coats....I think I'll stick with something that feels like pajamas for most of the time.
(thanks for the grades comments btw...i was psyched)

so at you're school even the guys wear 3 pocket scrubs?

I prefer them, but they are so feminine.

Just wear them and don't think twice about it! I felt the same way when mine arrived; 4 pairs, all with 3 pockets!!! I hate it but I'll wear it; afterall I paid $100 for them. 🙁

i work at a hospital and have scrubs that i wear to work. can i wear these during school even though the hostipals name is stamped on the back pocket of the pants?

so I just went to a scrubs store and tried these on. They are great. This website has them way cheaper than in the store. I am about to order 5 pairs.

To anyone else trying to pick scrubs: these are great, the pocket on the side is big enough for a wallet and cell phone, no problem. Also you can put pens in the pocket and they will be below your gown when you are sitting. That way you dont have to go into your gown to get access to pens.

Anyone know the scrub situation for first year students at Ohio State? (i.e. color, when we start wearing them)

is this actually the most of your worries?
omg im so envious.
why is this such a big deal?

OSU students should just hold out for now, they are figuring stuff out, i'll post more info when i find out
