Advice on taking DAT and status

If you can study full time during those 5 weeks, I don't think you'll have trouble breaking 20.
My total study time was about four weeks (5 hours for the first two weeks and then 15 hours for the last two weeks). I submitted my application pretty late (Aug. 30), and I applied to 11 schools with 4 interviews and 1 acceptance.

Your case was a little bit similar to mine. So as long as you can score a 20+, and get that submitted immediately. You shouldn't have any problems getting interviews (assume you apply to 12-14 schools).

My study materials were: KBB, CDP, AP Bio notes from high school, college organic notes, college gen. chem. notes.

Good luck studying!

I would aim for 20+. Five weeks after June 16th.. is like late-July/early-August? If possible, I would try to turn in your app by early to mid-July for better odds.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone could offer some advice on my situation. I will be applying this coming cycle, and I am scheduled to take my DAT on July 23rd, but i can only study for it starting June 16th. So that gives me about 5 weeks of full time studying (9-5) without any distractions. Is that enough time? because i don't want to delay my application. I have everything else ready including ps, letters, good gpa around 3.7 science 3.6, good E.C's, parents are refugee's. I will apply as soon as the cycle opens.

I will use the following materials: KBB, destroyer, math destroyer, chad chem, exam kracker chem, acs orgo study guide, topscore, achiever, and CDP. What other material would you guys suggest for orgo because thats my weak point.

would i have a good chance with a dat around 18-19?

Well... your circumstances force you to start preparing in mid-June, its not the most ideal but what can you do about it? Suck it up, don't second guess yourself, and most importantly, don't half-ass the 5 weeks and Im sure you'll be satisfied. Always remember, people with strong GPAs (such as urself) are at an automatic advantage

All the best

5 weeks should be sufficient for review. You should have covered most of the material in previous classes and nothing should be particularly foreign to you, therefore you will just be reviewing what you already know. KBB and destroyer were pretty much my only study materials and I managed a 23 in orgo. Just make sure you utilize the time you have. As much as it will suck spending most of those five weeks in the library, it will all be worth it if you get into your school of choice.
