Advice on when to apply! HELP

Hello,

I am looking for some advice! I graduated last summer and entered a Masters program because I was told my GPA was not competitive enough to apply (3.4). I started the program this past spring and I did well I think (grades haven't come out yet *knock on wood*). I am now studying for the DAT exam and I was thinking of taking it in July and applying in last July. Is this too late to apply? I know many have said to have your application in ASAP, but I don't want to rush studying and not do well. Advice please! You may also message me privately if you would like.

Who told you a 3.4 wasn't competitive? Depending on what your DAT score was you could have had a real shot at an acceptance.
Anyway, it's hard to recommend schools to apply to without a DAT score.

One of the dental school admissions told me from Georgia.
I'm going to apply to a lot of schools. I am just worried if applying in July will be bad for me.

Thats not late. You could take your DAT in august and thats still not too late as long as you send in your app before then. Its more important that you do well on the DAT so just make sure you are prepared enough. I know someone who took the DAT in september and got into many schools. Hope this helps

Thank you for your reply! Do you think it would be wise to turn in my application before I take the DAT? I am afraid they would reject me because of my GPA or my application just gets lost in a pile of incomplete applications 🙁 so paranoid

I believe most schools only review your application with the DAT. Someone correct me ifI am wrong. Also if you are still a bit paranoid, just submit your application 2 weeks before you take the DAT. Since the application usually take 3 weeks to process and that should be in tuned with when you take the DAT so ideally everything would be processed together or with a 1 week variance because the DAT might take an extra week to process since it usually take 1-3weeks.

Yeah that's what I am afraid of. Things getting updated and admissions aren't notified

I did. Schools don't consider your application complete without DAT scores. Some will review it, but not make a decision on your application until they see the scores, and some schools will just put your application in an "incomplete pile". They won't forget about your application.

I didn't but that's what you should do. LORs, transcripts, GPA calculations, all that **** takes time. Apply to AADSAS the first day you possibly can, even if you're taking the DAT in July. That way all the stuff that takes time will already be squared away. Most schools will confirm they received your application but ignore it because it's missing the DAT scores. You can email an unofficial copy of your score the day you get it, and the schools may or may not consider you then. Two weeks (ish) after your test date the official scores will get reported to the schools and at that point your application is complete in mid to late July and you'll be fine.

If you wait to apply until mid July with your sores, it could be early to mid August before everything else gets in and that is getting into "risky" timing for people who aren't superstar applicants with wiggle room.
