Hey everyone,
I have been reading these forums for a few years now, and would like to thank all you guys and gals for how helpful and informative you have been during my road towards becoming a dentist (hopefully).
I just finished my junior year at a relatively "top tier" school outside Philadelphia. I also live in Pennsylvania, about an hour from philly. I am a bio major and so far have a 3.61 cum gpa, and a 3.74 science gpa.
I took the DAT about a week ago and am just about ready to submit my application. My DAT scores are...
Bio: 21
GC: 23
OC: 25
PAT: 21
RC: 24
QR: 17 --- Only studied for 1 day and kinda regret that:/
AA: 22
TS: 23
I have a few questions about applying and where to apply, so if you guys could help me out or give me some opinions I would really appreciate it. I know there are other similar threads, but most are a little dated and every situation is a little different.
First question: will that low QR score screw me at all, or hinder my chances of getting accepted?
I plan on applying to Temple, Penn, Pitt, Maryland, Tufts, Stony Brook, Rutgers, NYU, Columbia, and Boston. If I got to choose, temple and penn would be my first choices because they are so close, but really I will be happy to get into any dental school.
Second question: Based off of my scores and GPA, are there any other schools I should put on my list, or take off my list because they aren't worth it or my chances aren't good?
And finally, I would like to think I have pretty good scores, but realistically, what are my chances of getting into temple or penn?
Thanks again everyone, any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated, and good luck to all other applicants.
