advice please? where should i study?

hellooo... i'm krix (obviously) i found this site not to long ago, and i found very useful info here. i don't know if anyone will read this, let alone reply, but if you have the time, i'd reeeallly like your advice.

when i was little i'd go to the hospital often because my mom and grandma have several illnesses/diseases/sicknesses. i used to hate the smell of the hospital. ugh... those rubber gloves and anesthetics. but after the visit to the doctor, my mom and grandma would feel better, or at least relieved with the fact that they didn't have anything major. i wanted to be a doctor since then.

this probably isn't what you'd see everyday, but i'm interested to study medicine in japan. though some don't and might not agree with that. 🙁 my other choice would be canada, but idk much about that country. i heard that it's good to learn medicine there. it was kinda hard to find anything on that. i still have a few years until i actually get into university, but i'd like to think about it from now.

if anyone has any info/suggestions/advice on other good countries, schools in canada, or their own opinions, i'd like to hear (read :/) them.

Realize that if you study medicine in Japan, you will not be able to practice medicine in the US unless you do a residency here. Applying for residency from a foreign country can be very challenging, so I would only advise going to a foreign country for college/medical school if you fully intend to stay there.

i live in indonesia right now. i heard that canada is a pretty good place to study medicine. a lot of my relatives and my mom's friends study medicine there and are currently living there. as for japan, it's not really known for having strengths in medicine, but i like the culture, the language, and the environment that they have.

actually, i do intend to stay there. my first thought was that maybe i could take the general medicine in canada then take my specialist in japan. but then i guess that's hard to do cuz then you have to readapt. *srry, idk how to do multiple quotes in one reply, if that's even possible*

I would say that you should not go to a medical school in a place where you do not speak the language fluently... some of my rotations have been in locations (here in the USA surprisingly) that the patient population load is 98% spanish speaking...while this may not sound like too big a deal, it is incredibly frustrating to try to communicate important medical information all day to patients who may/may not be able to understand you. the language barrier also gets in the way of the learning process often...
