Hi everyone,

I am just having a hard time figuring out exactly when to apply to dental schools. I live in Alberta, Canada, and the location does not matter, as long as I get in somewhere!

My freshman year GPA was a 2.2 because ( I know this is no execuse) but my mom was diagnosed with cancer, and i just lost track of my goal.
So far this year I am doing good, with last semester having a GPA of 3.9.

I calculated the MAX cgpa I can get is 3.5.
Oh, and I have alot of voluneering hours, ext, and I have not taken the DAT yet.

So my question is... should I:

1. Apply in my 4th year, however I know that they do not look at the year you are currently doing. So only my 1st, 2nd and 3rd year would be counted, am I correct? Therefore my GPA would be horrible and not competitive at all.

2. Get masters, and apply in my last year (so 6th year).

Thanks for all your help!🙂

1. Only the completed courses will be counted towards your GPA. By Spring of 2011, AADSAS will give you the option to update your app with the recent Fall 2010 grades. You may find this thread helpful, and apply early:
