Hello Everyone,
I just took my dat exam today and scores all following:
Biology 20
Organic 21
Chemistry 24
TS 21
PA 17
QR 15
RC 16
AA 19

I got lost after taking the natural science sections, because I thought that i did very terrible on it; which resulted me in panic mood and messed up all the other sections. Also I ran out of time for PAT, QR,RC.
Should I retake it or apply with scores?
My undergraduate Science gpa 3.43 and overall gpa 3.52. I have a master's degree with 3.7 and now finishing up thesis.
I will appreciate any feed back.
Thanks

That's a tough call. The RC score is not too hot...if you honestly think it was just a matter of mood and timing screwing up your QR and RC sections I think a retake would be worthwhile since they should be fairly easy to improve with timing practice as long as you keep your other science skills sharp in the meantime. But there's (I think) a 3 month wait between retakes...not sure if it's worth keeping up with for that long.

Hi Subdoc90,

This is a tough call, your science scores are great, love that 24 in GC! The 3.7 GPA Master's Degree will prove to the dental schools you are very serious and committed to becoming a dentist.

With the math and reading being a bit on the low side it would be best if you call the schools before considering a retake. It is not unusual for students to develop a bit of anxiety on the test so DO NOT beat yourself up. If you do retake the test you know what to expect and can Destroy it the next time.

Please keep us posted and wishing you the best!

Nancy

Apply to dental schools,

Retake DAT, ASAP

Your scores show very highs and very lows....

It is exotic in a way..... Maybe an admission person will think the same and like it....

And when your new DAT scores are updated to the AADSAS system, dental school admissions will have a better overall idea of your DAT skills....

Hi Nancy,
Starting from tomorrow I will call schools. Just got nervous at the end 🙁...I know if i retake it, I can do well on the sciences again. The only issue is that I can only retake the exam in August.
Thanks for the wish, I will keep posting any updates for my admission.
