Hello,

So I kind of wrote this a few times on the forum, but I am considering this new option and would really appreciate a lot of advice and soon if possible, my deadline to decide is tomorrow.

So i am enrolled in Physics, Biochem, Social Psyc, and learning theory Psyc class. I am a psyc major. I am really having a lot of trouble with biochem and want to drop it and take it independently in the summer possibly so I can comepletely focus on that course. But I already have two interviews this cycle, one that needs biochem and one that doesn't. So I am so unsure of what to do.

1. Keep biochem but really struggle in it, might not get a good grade and struggling in it might affect my performance in other classes.

2. Drop biochem take a upper division religion course for graduation requirements and take biochem this summer. But with this option, am I losing out on other school that might interview me and see that I didn't take it. Or risk not getting accepted to one school that offered me an interview so far?

Sorry this is a little long, but any advice would be greatly appreciated🙂

Thank you!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you're currently applying to dental schools and are planning on attending next fall, this year's grades are not all that important. You just need to pass all your courses/ pre requs. to gain admission. If I am correct, my advice would be to stay in the Biochem course so that you have a chance of admission at both of the schools u are being interviewed at!

I heard that as well, but I think you still have to get at least a B in your prerequisites. And plus if I don't get in now, I am just worried to jeopardize my GPA

Your grades definitely still matter. I would call the school that is planning on interviewing you (with the biochem pre-req). My thoughts are that if it is a pre-requisite, they will not really care when you take it - so long as it is before you matriculate.

Can you just retake it in the Spring? Maybe talk to your professor? When I took biochem, I thought I was going to fail, but I talked to my professor and asked about my chances of passing before I dropped it. Well, I stuck through it and ended up with a B. I also thought Dr. Kevin Ahren's videos on Youtube helped a ton.
