iam a fourth year student biochm student from canada, i just applied to the US schools last week.. i just found this forum and by reading couple of threads i think that iam screwed 😡since most of u guys have just got acceptance letters from few schools that i did apply to them last week. My question is any idea if i still got a chance to get an interview for example at howard, NYU, and few others? my overall and science GPA about 3.0, but i have lots of volunteering experiences in dental office about 275 hrs, hospital 150hrs, on campus abt 50 hrs and also at a pharmacy for 95 hrs, does anyone think that i might have a chance to get into dental school by falll 2008? 😕😕

No. Sorry, but no. I guess maybe if your dat scores were like impossibly high, maybe. But probably, no.

EC can only help you so much. You should really focus on raising your GPA first before anything.

That being said, did you take the Canada version or the American version of the DAT? Some schools in the states do not accept Canadian DAT so you might want to look into that as well.

Save yourself the trouble and inevitable heartache and apply next cycle. Your chances are really not that good at this point, unless you have an extremely stellar DAT score. Work hard this next 6 months to improve your GPA and rock the DAT then apply this summer for 2009 (apply early!), you won't regret it.
