So I applied this year and didn't get in (I know it's because of my low science GPA and my school's stupid letter service). Right now, I'm applying to a bunch of SMPs and traditional master's programs. I've been doing a post bacc for the past year and here are my updated stats:

Undergrad overall GPA: 3.11
Undergrad science GPA: 2.96
Post Bacc GPA : 3.70 (I took all upper division science courses)

I calculated my new GPA and my overall should be almost a 3.3 and my science GPA will between 3.1 and 3.2 (I'm also planning on talking some courses over the summer, which will help my GPA as well). Now, I'm really confused as to whether or not I should retake my DATs. Here are my current scores:
AA: 20
TS: 20
PAT: 19
Quant: 17 (my lowest score, which may hurt my chances...all the other sections were 19 above)

Should I retake?

I'm also going to have my application in on June 1st. Do you guys think I'll have a chance of getting in this time around? Starting Fall 2009, I will start my SMP so I'm not sure if I should wait until I finish the SMP to apply or if my scores are good enough where schools will at least invite me for an interview and then see that I am doing an SMP and will be done in Spring 2010. What do you guys think???

Honestly, your GPA right now is okay. The DAT looks pretty good. I agree that your QR is a bit low. All I can say is that it really is up to you. Have you done a lot of shadowing/volunteering. Or are you involved in a lot of extracurriculars? If you are then I believe that you will be okay. But that's just my opinion. Good Luck.

I talked to some of the schools and they told me that my volunteering/shadowing was solid and I wasn't lacking there. As I said, my GPA was really low so they all told me that doing a post bacc and raising my GPA would be the best way to improve my application and I could try retaking the DAT, but only if I'm confident that I will do better because some of the schools take the latest scores (even if they're lower) and it doesn't look good if you retake and do worse. So I'm not sure if I should retake or not. And, I don't know if the post bacc work I've done so far is enough. I will be enrolled in either a traditional master's or an SMP next year, so I'll have that to help me as well.

Do you guys think I would have a chance this time around if I apply with my updated scores and concurrent SMP enrollment?

No doubt the latter was the more significant reason you didn't get in.

Well pretty much I my application would have been complete in late August/early September but in late October I realized that my letter service messed up and didn't send the LOR from my science professor. So, this pushed my application back by 2 months and I was at the bottom of the list from the beginning of November, which is REALLY late in the cycle. So, like I said, I know my low science GPA played a part in my rejections, but a lot of schools told me that because of the LOR glitch, I wasn't complete until really late so that played a big part as well. So make sure, if you choose to have your letters sent electronically on AADSAS, that your letter service double checks the letters that they scan and confirm that ALL of your LORs are in the package!

Notwithstanding what you were told it is unlikely that the ds in question(s) considered you a lesser applicant simply because the LOR didn't come from a science professor. It is hard to imagine even for a millisecond that had your stats been 3.99 with a DAT of 24/24/24 that your "glitch" with the non science LOR would have mattered one iota.
