Hello everyone!

I recently retook DAT and scored really well. I'm a reapplicant and currently waitlisted at NYU. My GPA is around 3.7~3.8 and I scored 23AA 26TS 22PA on DAT. So my question is.. should I just go NYU with these stats or just wait one more year and do masters (Got into McGill MSc in Dental sciences) then go better school?

Thx in advance.

if you already graduated and get into NYU I would go there rather than wait a year. NYU isnt at the top of most ppl's list mainly because of the price but I think its a great school and the city is awesome. just my opinion..

No one cares where you graduate from. A dentist is a dentist.

If you are waitlisted wouldn't your question be moot?

Now I have better DAT scores and hopefully I can get a call from NYU!

II would wait a year and go to a much better school that likely costs half the price. Besides there is no guarantee that NYU will accept you 3 weeks before school starts.

I would try to get off of NYU's waitlist and go there if I got in. NYC is awesome and you wouldn't have to waste a whole year reapplying. That's one more year of income for you (and one less year of picking up loans and wasting $$ when you apply again), since you'd be spending $$ to go get a master's anyway. Besides, what if you don't get into a better dental school next year? Then you'll have essentially wasted a year trying to be a better applicant and still be going to NYU with more loans and $$ wasted in the application process.

If you get off of the waitlist, I strongly urge you to attend NYU. A dentist is a dentist is a dentist. No one cares where your degree is from.

One more thing...are you Canadian? Because then you're only looking at private dental schools in the United States anyway (and all of them cost a boatload of $$ so your only reason for reapplying if you get into NYU would be reputation and that's just bs) which is an even stronger reason to go to NYU provided that you get off of the waitlist instead of waiting another year.

I would think that they'd be accepting people until the day before orientation to make sure the class is full because there are going to be people who drop out for various reasons, so an admission could still be possible and he should go for it.

Why would you wait another year if you got into NYU, I'll be there! 😉 Look at it this way. Let's say you wait and do the master's. You waste your time in the master's program as well as paying for it and plus it puts you off a year where you could be working as a dentist if you went in a year earlier and making a dentist salary. Don't be stupid, THINK!
