Non trad here looking for some advice. Graduated in 2012 with a GPA just north of 3.6 but at the time , finding employment was the number one priority. However, I decided that I would like to continue my pursuit of attending medical school. I have been shadowing an MD a couple nights a month for the past few months and have also volunteered in a clinical setting for 3 years while in undergrad I also shadowed a DO for a day as well and really enjoyed that experience. Assuming my MCAT goes well in May, would it be wise to hold off on applying this cycle to gain more hands on clinical experience, or should I just go ahead and apply? I'm leaning towards waiting another year but I would appreciate any input you all have.

If you have been volunteering for 3 years, I think that is more than enough. You should definitely apply this year... If your MCAT is 24-28, concentrate more on DO. If it is 29+, apply 75% MD/25%DO...

Definitely apply the day that applications open. If you do well on your MCAT, definitely apply MD & DO. Have you done any practice tests yet?

Yes I took one a couple weeks ago and got a 27 but I pretty much plan on working my ass off for that test. Got Berkley Review and am also planning on working through the TPR workbook. Thanks for the input and assuming my MCAT goes well I'm going to apply and give this thing a shot.
