Hey all,
I created a new account for anonymity and wanted to ask for my chances on admissions. I know people ask this stuff all the time, but I feel like my situation is somewhat unique.

My GPA is just above a 3.5, with a BCP of 3.4. I am studying to take my DAT and will take it at the end of October. However, what I am worried about is the fact that
A: My first semester, 7 years ago, I was caught drinking and was suspended for a year from school, resulting in all my classes being counted as W's. I returned after a year and haven't had any issues since. BUT I have withdrawn from 3 other classes throughout the years.
B: I am a Public Health major and took a lot of my public health classes online. I took all the pre-reqs in the classroom, but a lot of the classes geared toward my major were online.

I have just above 100 shadowing hours, and a good amount of service hours, which I hope to improve before applying next summer. I guess the main thing I am worried about is the number of W's on my transcript. I know that schools will see that my disciplinary action happened 7 years ago and that I haven't had any issues since. However, I am worried that if they see that, along with a few more W's (none being dental pre-reqs), along with a few online classes, that I don't seem to be that competitive of an applicant.

Any advice, or thoughts/insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Address your slip-up in your PS. That's probably the best way to express yourself to adcoms regarding all the W's.

Schools won't be able to tell if a course was taken in a classroom or online (Unless the course and institution is know to be online). Adcoms will only see the course title and your grades. And I'm pretty sure you can explain the disciplinary action on your app or supplements.

I believe you have to designate online courses when you submit your grades on the application.

Classes online or in class are not distinguished from what I understand unless you disclose it or went to a recognized online school like University of Phoenix. You'll be fine. Nobody is perfect. Do well on the DAT and own your history. I believe applicants such as yourself stand out from others so you should use that to your advantage and that can spin positively in your favor--but that's just my opinion and I'm not on any admissions committee.
