Warning: My goal is NOT to get people mad, I am just here for advice

I have a BS. Research for the past 3 years @ a big pharm. company. 3 publications. Planning to apply to medical school next year. MCAT: 32. I am 100% sure that I want to do something with anesthesiology. My father-in-law and his partners who are anesthesiologist are trying to convince me to become a CRNA!!! Since, I don't know any other medical professionals that I can go for advice, I am here for advice:

If your sibling/child was in my place what advice would you give them? I have no biases MD vs. RN and I do understand that MD are highly trained professionals.

You do know other health care professionals, your father in law who is an Anesthesiologist. Sounds like someone who could give great advice....

You have to understand that these threads are beyond old. And you do have a bias; your father in law is apparently an anesthesiologist. So rather than listen to him and his real life advice you'd rather listen to strangers? You're a big boy, make up your mind. Go find some CRNAs and hang out for a few days. Take some notes and make a decision.

Do you want to be a physician or a nurse? It's that simple of a question? Do a search, nothing astoundingly new has been said about this topic in the past year or so. As to the first part of your question, I'd encourage my child to make whatever decision would make them the happiest and leave them with no regrets.

thanks for the quick replies! just found the Midlevel Anesthesia Providers forum. I am going to read up and hopefully make a good choice.

Moderator if you would like to close this thread thats OK.

I'd tell my kids to become CRNAs.....less training, less debt, less stress, less responsibility, less work hours, less drama.

Oh yeah, and MORE money than your average family practice doctor and pediatrician.
