I am a senior at NYU undergrad majoring in international relations and hopefully applying to medical school next cycle. I have a 3.5 cumulative and science gpa. I am taking biochemistry this year since it is recommended by most schools. I am doing an honors major so I have to complete a research thesis by the end of this year. I took the MCAT over the summer and got a 29P (V10, BS10, PS9). I am planning to take a year off to shadow doctors and do some medical research. I am on a sports team at NYU and I have done very well in the conference. I went to Nationals last year. I am hoping to apply very early in the summer so my application gets a good look through. My dream school would be Rochester, but other than that I really have no other preferences. My list of med schools so far is:
Rochester (I am from Rochester and I plan on working for the university during my year off)
Upstate
Downstate
Buffalo
Albany
NY medical
Rush
GW
Tulane
U of Illinois Urbana
Georgetown
U of Vermont

I am also planning on doing a MD/MPH program. I don't know if that helps at all. Let me know what you guys think. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

You should retake your MCAT. Also, better start studying harder for test #2, Kallenbach's not gonna go easy on you.

An MCAT retake may not be necessary. More research or teaching could help you get into medical now. Now if your goal is a top tier school, you should then retake the MCAT.
