Hello SDN,

I have question about my current situation for this 2006 dental admission.
I took my DAT around July 2005 for the second time and the result came back were 19 OC, 18 BIO, 18GC, 21 QR, 13 RC :scared: , 21 PAT.
My first time was 16OC, 18BIO, 23GC, 19QR, 16RC and 18 PAT.
I am really worry about my RC score being so low (13) and I need advise on whether I should take the DAT again in OCT 2005, 90days from the second DAT or I should just wait and hoping the dental schools will take the higher RC score.
I know if I retake the DAT on OCT, 2005, it might delay my application to almost NOV, 2005 since I already sent my application to AADSAS earlier this month (July). Would I have a better chance to get in a dental with poor RC but early completed application or take the DAT in OCT and have the completed application in NOV??
If I am going to wait, with my overall GPA of 3.3 and 3.2 science, what are my chances to get admitted to dental schools?

Thanks so much for the input and command.
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR ROAD TO DENTISTRY. :luck:

plan on retaking the dat. Reading is a very important section of the dat, probably the most important at a lot of schools. By October you will know if you have some interviews, you might even be able to go to some before that. I would call one or two of the schools and ask the admissions director what they think. An 18 might not quite cut it with a 3.2-3.3 gpa. So plan on retaking it, you can improve that I bet.

Good luck

I would talk to the individual school and ask them, if they combine the scores and pick the best ones. Your scores are pretty good, some very good which might make them think you just flipped flopped on RC. Also, apply as early as you can. The longer you wait, the slimmer your chances to get in with that RC score.

Good luck.

You have 2 choices:
1. Wait till next yr cycle for entering class of 2007
2. Turn in your application ASAP and then mail a letter stating that you'll retake the DAT in 10/2005. Hopefully you'll get some interviews. Fax your unoffical scores to every school after you retake the DAT.

I would go with option 2. 2 months are enough time to study for the DAT. Ace it and you'll get more than one offers! You have a good chance of getting an acceptance if the RC was higher. Most schools have a min. score of 15 so your RC 13 won't fly. You need higher than an 18 average score. Anything less than that will put you on wait-listed or declined list.

Kaplan has very good tips for RC. Now put down that magarita and go study!
Best of luck!
