Interviewed at Jax. It is a VERY good program. If you want to learn implants, that's the place.

I've heard good things about the GPR at MCG. The San Antonio VA is also very good from what I hear.

Good luck.

I am a resident at the Jax AEGD and it might just be the best residency around in my opinion. The VA in San Antonio is a good program, but the director is very intense.

How does the application process work? Do you apply to UF and then get placed, or is it different for each clinic location? Cause I would like to apply to St. pete as well. Also do you know whos the best person to contact for info.

thanks!
lauren

I'm looking to apply to Jax in 2009. Do you have to take the FL board before you enter the program or can you do it durning/after?

Hopefully I'll get in. I still own my house down there and currently renting it out.

One of my best friends from dental school did the GA gpr about 3 years ago. He loved it and now does his own implant placements, and is certified in IV sedation.

You apply to Jax and St. Pete separately through PASS. Neither of the two participate in the match. As for having to be licensed in FL, no, you do not have to have taken the FL boards to enter the residency.

As for contacts at the programs...Dr. Starr is the PD at Jax and Dr. Porter is the PD at St. Pete. I'm sure you can get their contact info. on the UF website.
