So I found out I'll be going to Wright Patterson AFB next year for my AEGD. Not sure how I feel about it yet. I hear the hospital is huge, and the program is really good but I hear Dayton is BORING! especially with me coming from New York, I don't know how easy it's going to be to adjust.

Is anyone here at Wright Pat or is anyone headed there next year? How do you feel about the base and the program?

:meanie:

It is what you make of it.

Congrats on your AEGD! However, it sounds like you are a little disappointed about going to Ohio. Was that your first choice? I guess I'm wondering how competitive these AEGD programs are?

Do you know of classmates who didn't recieve their top choice, or maybe didn't even get selected for an AEGD at all?

I'm a 3rd year on the Air Force HPSP, since I'll be going through this a year from now, I'm a little curious.

Thanks!

I'm actually the only Air Force person in my class. Ohio was not high on my list, but it wasn't at the bottom either so I'm ok with it. I'm not exactly sure how competative the AEGD's are with the Air Force. I can tell you there's 10 (I think soon to be 11) programs, and the programs I believe range from about 4 - 8 residents per program. You'll get your package in the mail for the procedures on applying and what not this coming summer. Good luck with your 3rd year.

Hello,
I'm an HPSP D4 student who just found out that I'll be at WPAF AEGD program next year. Is there anyone who has completed, currently attending, or is familiar with the program, base, city (Dayton, OH)? I'm not so thrilled b/c it's not my top location, but I'm trying to find reasons to be more optimistic🙂

Thanks for any advice...

Hi all. It's been awhile. Congrats on your AEGD to WPAFB. I finished my AEGD there two years ago, and I can say w/o reservation, WPAFB is one of the best, if not the best residency in the AF. I loved every minute. You will not only be trained to be a great dentist, but an officer as well.

The staff is excellent all around. The orthodontist just retired, but i'm pretty sure a new one is coming. You will have a board certified specialist is EVERY discipline. Our pediatric dentist is no longer active duty, but she still spends time teaching pedo as a reservist.

The facilities are excellent. The program was very demanding for a dental residency, but worth every minute.

Good luck. Ohio is great!

Hi! This is a little offtopic, but I'm *hopefully* starting Dschool in August and have been accepted for the AF HPSP. I'm curious if there is a site that lists all of the residency options for afterwards? Thanks! 😀

I mean I'm not even accepted into Dschool yet, but I'm mostly leaning toward an AEGD/GPR residency. I don't know that much about them though, how you apply etc. Any info you have would be helpful/appreciated 🙂
