I'm from NC. There is no DO School here, but I heard that there a few DO programs out there that have affiliation with NC or with my university. I don't know if I would be considered "in-state" for tuition purposes, or if there is some other kind of benefit? Maybe I should check with my pre-med advisor.

Has anyone heard of this before? Thanks.

Also, when is the earliest we can send in applications for 2007? Thanks again.

I don't know about affiliated, but I do know that PCOM-GA campus highly recruits candidates from the southeast region (including NC). They don't have special tuition rates though for anyone as it is a private institution. (as with many DO schools)

I hope this helps.

if you go to UMDNJ-SOM you will be eligible for in state tuition as soon as you move there and get a drivers license.

I am from NC as well. GA-PCOM and Pikeville are the two DO schools that "recruit" from NC. I don't know about tuition at Pikeville, but as someone mentioned before, GA-PCOM is private, so no difference there. I also got into LECOM-Bradenton and LECOM-Erie. I'm not sure if LECOM-Bradenton has any preference for NC applicants but it certainly doesn't hurt to apply. Apply to lots of schools - there aren't as many DO schools that favor in-state students as there are MD programs. And as far as the application service is concerned, I think it opens in May and you can submit early in June. Good Luck!

Look at GA-PCOM. They are specifically looking for students that want to practice in the south, and some of their rotations (from what I have been told) will be located in NC. Applications open in June. If you are really interested in the school, e-mail them. You can take a tour, and they are open to answering all of your questions. They have been great to me so far.

Hopefully...I will be admitting to the class of 2010.

Thank you very much everyone.

How much thought do the adcoms put in your geography? Do the private schools factor your residency heavily?

Thanks.

Another Question:

What GPA and MCAT scores do I need to have to be competitive as an OOS applicant to these public schools:

1. MSU-COM
2. OSU-COM
3. UNTSH-COM

Curious.
