Can you practically go where ever you want after your residency in plastic surgery? Such as Beverly hills, Hollywood etc. Or is there more to it such as is there enough space available etc?

Also, can you either join or create a private practice. can you join one or do you have to start from scratch. Just some more information about how that works would be appreciated.

I think I just vomited a little in my mouth.

If you are pursuing medicine and your end goal is hollywood im going to suggest that you reassess your goals. b/c more than likely you are going to end up very unhappy and there are much better ways to get to hollywood than putting yourself through medical school and a surgical residency ( im not trying to be condescending im just being completely honest)

Plastic and Reconstructive surgery is a very competitive field. It is a field that focuses on restoring normal form and function post-trauma, cancer or congenital causes.

It really isn't as glamorous as it seems.VERY very few plastic & reconstructive surgeons cater to the likes of heidi montage or angelina jolie. As a plastic surgeon you are most likely going to work with the everyday plain jane ( even if you are doing only cosmetic)

I know TV can be deceiving but its a very skewed portrayal of the actual speciality. And most of those guys you see on tv arnt real plastic and reconstructive surgeons

You will need an imminence amount of dedication, stellar marks, a good amout of research work under you belt. The surgeries are long some can be 5-8hrs long. California is pretty super saturated with plastic surgeons,so more than likely it'll be tough setting up a practice and keeping it afloat.

If you're interested in botox, laser resurfacing or other cosmetic type stuff you can do all those things being a Nurse Practitioner with an aesthetician licence, you wont have to go through 10 years + training, and you can join an already set up practice and work with a plastic surgeon.

I highly suggest you shadow or observe a real reconstructive surgeon before you decide to pursue this as a career choice

(A part of me hopes this is just glade trolling on here, and the other part of me is just really sad, I hate E! for glorifying those Dr.90210 D*****bags)
