Age bias in physician hiring

This may seem like an odd question, but I was wondering about it. Suppose one was in their sixties and wanted to relocate, say from the northeast to FL, but still practice medicine on a full or even part time basis. Is there age bias in hiring physicians like there is for folks in hte business world? (ie, my father found it very difficult to find new work as a business person beginning in his late fifties.)

It depends on the practice setting and what the physician wished to do. If they only wanted to do Saturday clinics, they might be popular. Age bias can exist anywhere, but in general, I'd say in outpatient pediatrics, it would be pretty minimal IF, you had the skills and plan for working that a group wished/needed. I'm not sure you'll get much response here as relatively few of our members are in that age group...

Hmmm. Maybe I should post this in another forum. I'm not there yet, but watching my dad struggle has made me think about it. Given my ridiculous loans😱 I probably won't be able to save much for a nest egg until later in life and may need to continue to work.
