I actually posted this in the MilitaryMed forum already but wanted to ask here as well... If there are any military PA's here, I have a couple of questions.

I am considering applying for the program. I won’t make the upcoming board but should have all of the pre-requisites completed next year. Do any of you have any useful “hints” for me to help during the selection process? Also, what is your take on PA’s and the program?

check out www.physicianassistant.net
they have a subforum for military pa issues and many active military pa's there from every service.

In general, and I have also witnessed this first hand, as well as had it corroberated by many others in military medicine: Air Force PAs are much less autonomous than Army or Navy PAs. Maybe it's because the first PAs were ex Navy Corpsmen, maybe it's because the ARMY has post-graduate specialty training. I really don't know. But the (Air force) medical culture treats their PAs like glorified MAs. And......it is also more difficult to move up in rank as an Air Force PA.
