Does anyone know how long AECOM takes to make decisions after interviews? Are they notoriously slow? I just interviewed there recently and loved it... I hope I find out soon.

Can I ask how they notified you about the interview?

First acceptances are sent out 1/15.

What drizz said. The... second chair of admissions or something talked to us before we observed the first year class and said that you're in pretty good shape if you interview early, but up to 2/3 of the people in the first round turn down the acceptance, mainly due to its location.

E-mail.

I have an interview at AE in two weeks. I think it is in the morning of 11/6. Will I be considered for a decision near 1/15, or will my decision come much later?

It makes sense though that they don't send acceptances till later, since there are probably alot of people now who are accepted at there schools of choice already and now do not plan on attending AE.

Seriously?

I liked the location a lot. The Bronx is mostly a working class area, the type of people I want to work with. I guess a lot of applicants are really sheltered suburbanites.

AECOM is my top choice school that I applied to outside of California.

I actually like Fenway Park more than Yankee Stadium.

I agree with badasshairday. AECOM would be awesome.

I imagine everyone who interviews by December will be considered for the first round of acceptances. Obviously not all of them will get accepted, but I can't imagine that they won't consider people that interviewed in November (early November at that).

It sounded like it was mostly the reputation everyone was afraid of. I didn't see anything wrong with the area, and was a little surprised when they said it was one of the poorest, if not the poorest, county in the nation (especially when I lived in SC for 2 years, and the education system there was 49th in the nation). My mom, though, has the idea in mind that if I go there, I'm going to have to stay inside all the time because otherwise I'm going to get shot. Doesn't mean anything to her that NYC as a whole is one of the safest big cities you can possibly live in.

Can you take the train from Laguardia to Albert Einstein?

Easier to take subway to penn station and bxm10 to AE

I doubt it is the reputation. It is ranked in the top 1/3 of US allopathic med schools for research. If you mean reputation as in the reputation of being in a sketchy area, then that sort of makes sense. Whatever though, like I said, the people of the Bronx are the ppl I'd like to work with anyways.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I really get your point about the "poorest" thing. I come from a county of Florida with a population of +75,000 and a median income of $16,000. I see that the Bronx is a better place than where I am now. Also in an area radius of a few miles or so, you are in a completely different atmoshpere from the bronx, like Tarrytown to Manhattan. When I think about that, I am astonished by the diversity compared to where I grew up. To experience to any significant difference in social attitudes or conditions where I am now, I'd have to drive over 70 miles to see any difference.

I interviewed there on Monday and I didn't think the location was that bad. It's only ~40 minute bus(BXM 10) ride to Manhattan and the bus stop is right in front of the student apartment building. Plus, the seats in the BXM 10 are pretty comfortable.

I lived right next to Johns Hopkins for like 8 months in Baltimore. I don't care where you're from, it's hard to beat that ghetto.

The location of the medical school/center is right in the hood, providing an ample supply of patients.

I doubt it is the reputation.

Reputation of the Bronx, not the school. It's a nice school (though we weren't shown the anatomy lab, which I found... different.

Yeah, I spent... 3 years in a town that I think was named the most diverse in the nation. At one point, the people that lived next door to us sold cocaine... I think the neighborhood has improved a little since I moved out, though. Damn... should've told that to my interviewer...
