O shush, Yuh boi famousBold of you to assume they're a fan of you when this is their first comment ever
Who are you?O shush, Yuh boi famous
and humble🤣O shush, Yuh boi famous
I would tell them the truth and that you grew from it and what you understand/know now. You're going to be okay thoughSo you guys don't think I should say I grew from the experience or anything? Because I feel like that's what they're looking for but idk what to give them
I probably would own it and admit that it was a mistake. I'd defer to pat, because he has an IA. Good luck!So you guys don't think I should say I grew from the experience or anything? Because I feel like that's what they're looking for but idk what to give them
You should be as honest as you can be without directing attention towards it, just be honest but say whar you need to and move onSo you guys don't think I should say I grew from the experience or anything? Because I feel like that's what they're looking for but idk what to give them
the most important thing is to own it. The LAST thing they want is excuses. Accept responsibility, even if it's absurd in this scenario. They know you didn't learn anything from getting an alcohol IA freshman year, but they do want to know that you can accept responsibility for your actions. So you guys don't think I should say I grew from the experience or anything? Because I feel like that's what they're looking for but idk what to give them
The Fam gives real advice, not-famYo real advice. I was an RA and what that RA did was BS. I always give my residents a warning first, or even on rounds I’m not going to call the police. First time alcohol infractions in my school were never noted on transcripts. You should call your school and ask. I actually got caught as an RA toking, was fired, then rehired when the deans office received 20 personal letters from students in my dorm. I had 0 vandalism and 0 hospitalizations in my floor in a first year dorm. If your school does keep it on record for your transcripts go for it, if there is no record? Maybe not? Up to you I guess.
edit: *would not call the police the first time. smome outside, don’t be an idiot.
The problem is, it's already done. OP needs to address it and own it.Yo real advice. I was an RA and what that RA did was BS. ...did you even read the OP? How you would have handled this situation as an RA is irrelevant. The information he gave clearly rises to the AMCAS definition of an IA, they need to own it even if there isn't a record. Try again not famYo real advice. I was an RA and what that RA did was BS. I addressed his alcohol infraction. And when i said real advise, i meant it as someone who was an RA in undergrad. This fam sounds mean and abusiveThe fam knows what's going on, not-fam. Did you even read the dudes post? He didn't smoke (can't be an idiot...)

Just own it.I was wondering if anyone had any input on how I should talk about an IA in future med school interviews, since I figure it's bound to come up.
I was alone in my dorm room freshman year on my computer (sober), when a police officer and RA knocked on my door complaining about a strong scent of marijuana. There wasn't anything in the dorm, and I hadn't been around any weed that day or anything recently. I later figured out that it was someone next door, but they didn't know that. The police officer walked in when I said there wasn't any marijuana and I hadn't been smoking, and he opened the mini fridge (which had alcohol in it), and had me pour it out. I didn't get any legal trouble, but my RA did write me up for having alcohol. This was dealt with through housing and I had to take an alcohol education class which was no big deal. At first I didn't think this was an IA, since it was done through housing, but I think it's probably safer to report it anyway.
My concern is that the story sounds like complete BS. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it is exactly what happened. If I say this is what happened in an interview, I worry I come across as refusing to take responsibility, but I honestly have no clue how to say I've grown from this, other than saying I shouldn't have been drinking underage at all, since it's not like I was being obnoxious or irresponsible with alcohol.
Nothing to “own” and “grow” from. You were keeping it cute minding ya damn business and campus police with nothing better to do wrote you up for having liq in your fridge.
I would neither write it nor apologize for it if brought up in an II; this country is very strange with it’s laws and culture on alcohol regarding age.
med students must be really big because they always grow from experienceSo you guys don't think I should say I grew from the experience or anything? Because I feel like that's what they're looking for but idk what to give them
