Hi, everybody!

I asked this same question in the midlevel anesthesia, but I just found this nursing one and think it's more appropriate here.

I have become interested in the AA field and am really limited on the realities of it. I've done tons of research on the internet, but I would still love to know the reality of being an AA.

How many hours, on average, do practicing AAs work each week (I think there are some on this board)?
What is the school and training like?
How difficult is it to get into school? Would I need extras to get in, such as a lot of volunteer work, etc?
What kind of job offers are there available for new grads (salary plus benefits plus hours worked plus over time options, etc)?
What are the salaries, benefits, etc like after 10 years of experience?
Is there high job satisfaction?
Is it possible to do overseas work or volunteer work being an AA?
How many states allow AA to work and how many states are considering it?

Ok, I can't think of anymore questions right now.

I know there is another thread about AA but it was started in 2007 so I started this one to get some updated info.

Please, please, please do not turn this into an AA vs CRNA debate. Dear Lord I've already read too many of them. I am interested only in AA and not CRNA.

Thanks in advance for your input. 😍

Hey, if you really want to know the reality of AA's, then you need to set up for shadowing one. If you missed this site during your intensive research, go here and it will answer most of your questions: www.anesthetist.org.
