Hi all,

If you're a med or premed student.. from an electrical engineering background.. do you feel you made the right decision by changing your career?

Is there something particular about your medical studies that you did not expect before starting? or that was a disappointment?

As a premed/med student/ or med school applicant, what is the most unique quality/skill advantage that engineers have? what is a unique disadvantage?

what specialty are you planning on pursuing?

are you considering an MD/PhD ? why or why not?

it seems to me that there no electrical engineers here.. i didnt expect the engineering back ground to be so rare among pre-med... how about engineers in general? 🙁
or is no one interested in sharing their experience 😕

3 hours and you write us off, huh? We are all just very busy. You know...doctoring.

I actually practiced engineering for 12 years (electrical - systems and signal engineering, biomedical instrumentation design; hardware through-and-though - MEMS, PCB deisgn and all those sorts of things).

No regrets. You really have to have excellent people skills (superb by engineering standards) IMHO.

Have to relocate my location right now, so can't write much more. I will check back later.

So Slev why didnt you go for an md/phd if you're interested in research? it is great to be able to balance between clinical work and engineering but i am certain this would need a certain type of education and training. where do you to school? plan on going?
