Hey I was wondering if anyone accepted to Nova, Kirksville, or UHS would please share their stats.---please🙂

I am applying this summer to these three schools and I just want to know where I stand.

Also can anyone share with me their "timeline" of when their applications where complete till the time they got an interview or acceptance from the three mentioned above?

I appreciate any information that is shared and would love to find out more about the application process from these three schools form personal experinces anyone can share.

Bonus::: Anyone care to rank these three in terms of best education recieved to location/lifestyle where the three are located???

appreciate it

Hi,
I am currently a student at KCOM. I got in with a 3.5 undergrad GPA and a 31S MCAT. I took the later MCAT and interviewed in February. My acceptance came over the phone a week and a half later. I would recommend applying as early as you can, simply because it presents more options for you and less stress in the long run. I didn't apply to UHS or Nova so I can't really speak about any of those schools, but I can say that I am extremely happy with my experience at Kirksville and wouldn't change it at all. The atmosphere at KCOM is the best you could hope for and the academics are top notch. KCOM's anatomy department is easily one of the best in the nation and the OMM department is among the best.
Hope this info helps (with asking for stats, keep in mind that is just one of many items admissions departments consider when reviewing applicants). Feel free to PM/email me if you have questions about KCOM. Best of luck.

I interviewed at both NSUCOM and UHS (went to and matriculated from NSUCOM in 2003). My stats (although they're about 6 years old):

GPA 3.54
Science GPA (about the same)
MCAT 28 (9 10 9)

Q, DO

My friend got into KCOM and NSUCOM with a 25mcat and a 3.4 gpa. She's going to go to KCOM.
I got into NSUCOM with a 27 mcat and a 3.5 gpa.

I would suggest (like everyone else) to apply early.
My friend got a phone call from KCOM about a week after she interviewed and I got an e-mail from NSU also about a week after I interviewed.

We both applied the day that AAMOCAS opened up.

Check out the link on my signature for my details...

26P MCAT
3.5 UTenn UG GPA
4.0 UTenn PB GPA
4.0 UTenn MPH GPA

Wow Sgt...you're pretty smart.

BTW, OP - I got into KCOM with a 3.45/30S MCAT. I know of classmates with MCAT's as low as 24 getting in.

I got into UHS this year. Interviewed mid november and got my acceptance two weeks later. The day before Thanksgiving to be exact.

My stats
MCAT 30Q
GPA 3.45
Science GPA 3.19
Research and TAing thrown in there as well.

2002 grad of UHS...
Science GPA: 3.6
Overall GPA:3.6
MCAT 9's
Grad school

Didn't apply to Kirksville (too small of a town, though great school)
NSU- didn't apply, too far away
UHS was a great choice for me, as KC was the right size and location. Growing campus with long history.
Any choice between the three would be fantastic! Kirksville probably has the best DO reputation.

I know. That's why my group should keep listening to me when visiting professors fire questions at us.
I wish I were as smart as the class president though.

i didn't get my aacomas in until late october, and my files weren't complete until mid january....i got interviews at dmu, kcom, and ccom a week later. 27-O mcat, 3.5 gpa, and accepted the week after i interviewed at kcom 🙂:horns:

Yo, took nova a while to send me an interview (got it in Jan, was complete there by August). My stats blow the big one, 3.10GPA, 25T MCAT. Was accepted the week after I interviewed.

can anyone say from their interview experience with these three schools if the schools appreciated your work experience or maybe upward trends in gpa if that was the case???

has anyone seemed to appreciate that during interviews schools were able to overlook prior immature periods in ones life???---if one showed considerable improvement.

All I can say is that there is always hope for anyone because I think that I have the lowest scores possible and I have been accepted at NSUCOM and Kirksville. I have interviewed at several other DO schools in addition.

MCAT 23, Science GPA 2.79, overall GPA 3.20.

I did have one excellent letter of recommendation that I am aware of.

Best of Luck!

I was accepted to KCOM, UHS-COM, and NSU-COM this year, so maybe you will be able to obtain some helpful info from my testimonial. For those reading this thread, please note that this is my opinion, and you are welcome to agree or disagree with what I have to say. While I had a strong GPA, solid recommendations, good clinical experience, and average MCAT, I feel that my application essays and interviews were the best selling points. I researched osteopathic medicine extensively before deciding to apply to DO programs. During my essays and interviews, I spoke at length about what I thought were the advantages to attending an osteopathic institution. I feel that I proved to each school that I was knowledgeable of their programs and the principles and philosophies of osteopathic medicine. Therefore, I think my strong interest in their school and osteopathic medicine (that I made blatantly obvious) was the clincher. I hope this helps.

i made it into UHS

had a 3.4 cum gpa, and 3.4 science gpa. - electrical engineering major. and a 21 mcat ( i took it once, and it was before most of my required chem and bio classes were taken - i do not recommend doing the same.. i have taken pure iq and analytical tests scoring in the genius range, but the mcat is about knowledge)

i actually live about 20 mins from uhs, and been here all my life. i knew a past instructor that actually taught at uhs (an md surgeon) and an AOA state pres that graduated from uhs (do family prac). both really great guys, and from talking with the interviewers, both wrote really great rec's. I also got a few lor;s from past bio teachers that i did a markedly good job in that class, and hopefully was remembered by the professor. i was actually waiting for these lors to come in and figured the profs didnt send them in yet. some ppl said to just wait, other said to ask them how the process was coming. so i decided to send them all really nice thank you cards for writing the lors for me. soon there after they were all in.

i had TONS of ec's everything from scholar bowl and mensa qualifications to wrestling and martial arts and archery, to graduation with honors and honors in tons of classes and honor society leadership positions like electrical engineering honor society, student council, etc... started computer business on the side constructing high end business computers and servers and got some good shadowing time in while working as an engineer.

i also knew a ton about osteopathy. i made it to the interviewing session and they quizzed us on various history parts, i knew all the answers the like the back of my hand, and seemed like i was the only one too...

i had invites to kcom and dmu, but with uhs so close, and having visited uhs REPEATEDLY i loved the place and decided to come. i also made it very clear in my interview that uhs was my first choice.

for the interview i bought a new suit and went in that just for the hope that it might give me a little more confidence. i dressed well, but not showy. i might add, that for uhs at least, they did everything on schedule, you would see them checking the clock or watch every so often to make sure they were on time for the days activities. point being - dont be late, they will notice.

as far as timeline, dmu is FAST everything was online. kcom was second fast, and uhs a close third. (got secondaries from all within about 2 weeks of submitting) i interviewed at uhs in a few weeks after that, and was accepted a few weeks after interviewing.

as far as your upward trend or *academic maturing*, im sure they all look at that positively. but basically, if you get an interview, they are no longer really looking at just scores, but rather mostly you as a person.

greatest advice i can say, BE nervous because it keeps you thinking and trying hard. also, pick out just a few schools and know a LOT about them. try to stay in contact with them, constantly asking about the status of your application etc. find out what they are looking for, dont be afraid to ask questions.

gl with your progress.

Hey RNtoDO, I just wanted to let you know that your work experience will get you in to school. It helped me. I have worked in an Er. as a tech for 5 years. I have a 2.98 GPA and a 27 MCAT score. I got accepted into LECOM and UHS. These are the only places I interviewed. When I interviewed they told me that my GPA was low, but my work and MCAT score made up for it. Volunteer experience is also a plus. Good luck getting in. I am sure you will have your choice of schools.

I only know about KCOM. I completed my online secondary application Sunday, January 16th. They e-mailed me on Monday, January 17th with an invitation to interview...way fast man. I interviewed on a Monday; they TELEPHONED me two days later with an acceptance. I applied to six schools and KCOM had the quickest turn around. Good Luck! :luck:

I thought KCOM was awesome, as was DMU. Just too much money when compared to state schools and too far from my family. Awesome training though.
