Well as the title would suggest, I got in..... but I still have to finish. I am having trouble studying and staying motivated lately. It started a little bit before thanksgiving break and slowly but surley I find myself studying less everyday, albeit I have As in all my classes and only have to get Cs now but DANG I feel distustingly lazy right now. I hope studying medicine next fall will get and KEEP me motivated, because right now all I do is watch seinfeld and view SDN.

I'm taking distance learning med-term and pharmacology in the Spring from community college. I will also take swimming. I just want to maintain 6 hours to keep my student loans in deferment, so I figure I might as well take something that could be useful, but nothing that will require too much work.

LOL I better get back my motivation by Jan. and hope it lasts at least until spring break. I have: Developmental Genetics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Senior Thesis. 😱

Guys, tonight is my last night of studying before med school... and you can see how much I care about studying right now. Just one more final...

I hate you right now. I have 4 to go. My toughest will undeniably be in A world History of Christianity.

... motivation really is hard to find in my department, nowadays. I just kind of drift through the semester and find things that arrive last moment. Whatever. I am going to be a doctor!

Haha, I'm with you. My hardest class is Archaeology and Prehistory. I took at as an elective for "fun". I was mistaken!

ACC is a pretty badass community college. A client of mine (also wrote me a letter of recommendation) is an elite age-group cyclist/triathlete, and she is also the dept. chair of Biotechnology at this school. She could easily be a prof at a major university, but I **** you not, she prefers community college because it "doesn't get in the way of her exercise"

So she runs the department, and she just writes grants. She has managed to put together a pretty freaking awesome lab at this school. As good as anything I've seen at UT. UT obviously has more of them, but they have a lot of expensive equipment for a community college.

They have a pretty impressive setup, overall, for a CC. I'd say better than some four-year colleges. The students, on the other hand...

I ran track at a community college. (400 meters) and I was very happy with the school. The University was a tid bit more challenging not in terms of exams, but in projects and research crap. I would venture to say that I "learned" more at CC.

Not me. Of course, I took all my hard classes at UT. But I felt that the quality of education I got there was fantastic. At community college, I worked in the biotech lab for my client over the summer, and the crap her assistant felt she had to explain to me was pretty astounding. I asked my client why later, and she told me "she's used to dealing with *****s"

ooo ouch. The only *****s I was aware of at my CC were the business majors (sorry guys & gals). As for those in the science hall, the only *****s were those that had to have the science credits, so they were in physical science and general chemistry. I was the tutor for the science hall. I really felt bad for this one person, so I helped him all I could at least 3X a week, anyways it was the eqt. PV=nRT. I made it clear as to why n needed to be isolated, so I said use basic algebra to isolate n and he just stared at the paper for a few mins and I had to do if for him. Poor fella.

Ah, it is so good to not be in school :meanie: ....(for the next 8 months that is)

I feel that I am in a hard spot. I am working on my MS, at the school where I will start the DO in August. I have no classes, but I have to work with my data, write my thesis, and defend the thesis in 4-5 months. It is all on me to get it done, and I find it hard to keep going. Oh well, at least summer in the ville will be free!

Has anyone heard of someone changing their Spring schedule to easier classes after being accepted in the fall?

Two of my favorite classes- Developmental Genetics and molecular biology.
Biochemistry sucked though. 👎

I dropped a genetics class I was going to take in the spring. It's a very difficult class and I didn't need to graduate. But I did call KCOM and ask them if I could drop it first 😛

You are all lucky to still be in school.

I was in a paramedic program for this year, but had to withdraw when I was accepted since I wouldn't be able to finish. So now I'm at home doing pretty much nothing. Well, I will be getting a job soon, but that won't be fun.

People say enjoy the free time, but my life has been school for so many years and I miss all the things that came from that (being busy with classes, fun with friends, being involved with clubs and activities, etc). I can't wait to be extremely busy again.

Only 8 more months at this point though!

Heh, I had my anatomy lab final today and studied...well, I couldnt really force myself to study... Still did fairly well, but I just. dont. care. anymore. I'll pass all my classes, and thats all I'm worried about. Plus my mountain is set to open this friday so I get to start getting paid to goof off and snowboard all day. Studying for my physics final next week will be excruciatingly boring. I plan on doing as much not working as I can in the spring/summer. Or at least finding something that is fun to do, even if it doesnt pay as much. Like being a raft guide. Or working at an outdoor shop. After ski season and at least one trip out to Tahoe this year....

This sounds like a really interesting class....it's amazing how much you can learn about God in a secular class (assuming your are at a public school)!!!

I wish I were in class now...I am working full time (plus actually) and trying to finish my Master's Thesis and defend that before I start at KCOM next fall.

I am taking Anatomy and Physiology all year and second year spanish. I am not sweating the spanish as it is easy but I am working on the A&P thinking (hoping) that it may make the beginning of the first year a bit easier - we will see. I am also working a lot to be completely out of debt before school starts and the student loans start piling higher and deeper.

I just got done with my Comparitive Anatomy Lab Practical, Wow that sucked. I keep thinking with finals rolling around next week what I need to get a C!!! But then I think could they kick me out of KCOM for getting a C, I don't even know all I read was I had to get the degrees that were on my application, is this the case? As for next semester, I'm taking Molecular Biology, Senior Thesis II, then three cake classes, Intro to Psych, Exercise Psych, and Health Promotion. I'm taking all these to finish my two majors: Cellular and Molecular Biology and Human Performance and Physical Education.

To the biochem hater, just stop, now.

I wish I was in the position to not care, but this is probably the most or second-most important semester. Can I just start applying?

Hey everyone,
I know exactly how you feel. Look at me. I am in my office at school writing on SDN. Like I don't have things to do. ALthough I am still inschool I haven't taken a "real" class in over a year now. All I have been doing is reading papers, teaching class, and doing research. Now that I am in I feel this huge crunch to get done but just want to leave for med school. Although I will say this last project I started is awesome and we have had some positive results so I am excited about that. I, however, am not excited to finish writing my dissertation.

Congrats on WVSOM. I freakin loved that school. These words made me cringe "writing my dissertation"... That doesnt sound fun at all.... Thats pretty cool that your doing interesting research though. As for me, I am slowly but surley preparing for my genetics final in 24 hours.... Read some notes & browse SDN (rinsing and repeating)

LOL!! Your right, writing a dissertation is not much fun. The work is centered around molecular biology and deals (oddly enough) with the genetics of the developing embryo. And yes it is really cool. But thats enough for now I need to go check the cells and design some primers. Later all.
