I've heard the acceptance rate is closing in on 1:1 with the new schools opening so I'd expect everyone who applies will get accepted in the next few years.
I'd be interested in hearing from anyone that doesn't get accepted to at least one optometry school.

What was the first day the common application opened for optometry schools for entering students in Fall 2012?
I actually have an interview at UABSO next weekend! I would love to hear your thoughts and about the interview. I honestly don't know too much about the school.
The interview process is very relaxed. There are two parts to the interview, first is a panel closed file interview where you just talk about yourself. They didn't ask me many questions I just kept talking about my extracurricular activities, hobbies, and lot of random stuff. The thing is if they have given you an interview they know that you are serious about getting into optometry, I didn't need to sell myself. The only thing they are looking here is to see if you can carry a conversation with strangers. You are not anti-social kind of person.
Second part is open file one on one, here they discuss your grades, courses, and OAT scores. They let you know if something they are not satisfied with something that might hurt your chances. They will let you know how competitive you are. Overall they are very helpful and friendly. Just relax.

You could not go wrong with UAB. It's a very good school, and has been at the forefront of the field for decades. Especially known for strong sciences and medical background. Usually a high entering GPA for first years, and classes with dental and medical students.

That's great to hear! I love the fact that class size is around 40. I am assuming you are a UAB student. Do you mind if I ask you few question through private messages.

First of all, congratulations! Just curious on your OAT and GPA stats. UAB is one of my top choices and like i said above i'll be there for an interview next weekend! Also, how many other people were there for an interview with you Saturday?

and no that wouldnt work because the earliest interview is 930am on sept 1st which would be 630am on sept 1 on the west coast as well.
Hey guys. Just got my acceptance call from UABSO, too. Dr. Simon called me about 3:00 p.m. est today. Awesome school and very easy interview. I'll also be glad to share any tips for anyone with interviews coming up.
SCO called me today and offered me a seat. ::excited::

i found the day to be really relaxed. im not going to lie, i was a nervous, but all just kind of flowed from one thing to the next. mr. hauser did my file review and dr. walker did my interview. one thing to note is that the file review is kind of an interview too. he did ask me like "why optometry?" which is wasnt expecting. he is a chatty guy though. but the overall interview itself was super laid back. overall everyone there is REALLY nice and informative and the school and the clinic is really impressive.
