Alternate List Advice

Hey Guys!
Well, I've been placed in the alternate list at BU. What does "alternate" list means?? Any help is highly appreciated

It means that the class is full, but that you are in the pool of students that they will draw from should the need arise.

The class being full simply means that the deposits have been payed to fill the seats in the class, but that doesn't mean that everybody who payed will actually attend that school.

Question is this, as far as chances for admissions, thus it look pretty slim as far as my chances are concern for admission into BU? I am really confused and don't know whether to cancel my flight to Boston or not since the interview will be only to get into the alternate list only.
