Greetings predents-

I have just been offered a place on the alternate list at the U of MN. My question to you is...-Is there a 2nd round and those left over go on the alternate list? Or the the alternate list produced after the dec 1 offers are made. I'm trying to hypothesize whats to come, and any info you have would greatly help. Could you share what you know about the "post-Dec 1" selection/alternate list process pertaining to ANY or ALL SCHOOLS your familiar with.

Thanks

The alternate list at U of MN began after Dec. 1st. The second round of acceptances will probably go out today. I believe they filled about 75% of their class after the first round. Hope this helps, good luck. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

so does being on the alternate list mean that if you reapply next year you are in for sure? also does second round of acceptance really start this week for schools?

At most schools if you are on the alternate list you do not have any advantage for he next year's application cycle. Some schools will allow you to stay on the list but I don't think this is the norm.

Some schools will send out their second round this week, others will not. Just depends how fast the admissions committee is. The only thing that is pretty consistent at all schools is that the first round must respond by Jan 15th. So anytime after that date is possible.
