So i was called by USC to tell me that they have put me on an alternative list which is not ranked, but anytime a spot opens...here i'm confused, if its not ranked, anytime a spot opens they just randomly pick somebody or what? and since ive already sent a LOI, and also my most recent official transcript and resume with some updates, i don't really have what else to send them, is there anythung else i should do or just wait until the movement on may15th. Anyone who knows more about this alternative list, could you please give me some feedback?

I've forgotten which school told me this...

When a spot opens up, the director looks through all of the files of the remaining applicants (some will inevitably decline). Based on on gut feeling, he's pick someone to fill the spot. The reasoning is that if you've been place on the alternate list, you're qualified to enroll and they try not to bias themselves by making a hard rank list.

It sounds like USC is operating in the same manner.
