Alternatives with MD?

I was just curious what other alternatives people know of for people with an MD who choose not to practice medicine. I realize one can do anything with this degree but was wondering if the knowledge gained from medical school can still be utilized in other ways without actually practicing. Thank you.

I have a JD and let me tell you that everyone says it's such a flexible degree--that's a load of crap. I have been job searching for two months and the only job I can find is retail for $6 per hour. Employers have been scared of the JD, so I've been taking it off my resume but then I have a three year gap. Don't know if it would be the same with the MD but if you don't want to practice law, the JD basically screws you.
