Does anyone have experience with Altius practice FL exams? They sell 10 exams for $300 and to my knowledge, you can't buy them individually or in groups smaller than 10 like you can for Next Step. It would be really nice to hear some pros and cons from people who have taken them.

I only took one, and I personally didn't like it. The answer explanations have some typos and I just felt overall it wasn't very representative of the formatting of the MCAT. The highlighting feature is annoying and laggy, and I felt there were a LOT of bio questions in the C/P portion. I actually had to double check I was actually taking the right section. Again, I only took 1 of their exams and its my personal preference, but I probably won't be taking any of the others.

I purchased all ten and have taken the first three. I think they are much better than the princeton review tests. Those are the only two companies I have bought tests from and I would say Altius > TPR.

I took Altius FLs last year and second this. However, they've fixed a lot of those bugs this year, moved passages around between sections etc. Regardless, when I took the MCAT, I felt like I was taking another Altius practice test, just a little easier.

Altius has more Data Reasoning questions. After taking Kaplan FLs, EK, and NS, I found them to be the best personally. Kaplan fails to implement Data reasoning questions, Next Step is good, they have some data reasoning questions. EK is okay too. Altius is a little hard to be honest, but I think it's good practicing personally.

I haven't gotten any of their practice tests but am thinking about it. They do sell them in less than sets of ten though. They have an option for 5 exams for $175 as well as 1 exam for $40 I believe.

Does anybody know (hoping an Altius mod/tutor sees this ;D ) if it is possible to get a free full-length like NS before we spend more money? this whole process is breaking my already thin and practically inexistent wallet

You can get a 1/2-length exam (HLE1) for free by signing up on the website. If anything, all of the updated exams are actually slightly stronger than what you'll see in HLE1 (i.e., they're not showing you something better than what the packages include). You can also buy just one exam for only $40; then if you want to go to a package after that they will deduct the $40. If you're genuinely worried about being "surprised" by something lower-quality than you expected when you buy a package, I don't think you have anything to worry about with Altius exams; they are very good and getting better every day. The AAMC match is extensive, most of what students don't like about them is because they are hard--but I'm confident it is in the same way the test-day forms are hard; some students are quite upset by a few typos and such, but those have really been decreased in this last update and are very few and far between; finally, after another score scale adjustment a couple weeks ago I genuinely cannot see differences between what my students are scoring on Altius exams vs. AAMC. Good luck to you!
