due to spending an extra semester at a local cc, I will start at a 4 year in spring 2012 which means I will graduate in fall 2013 IF I stay on track. This is going to delay my application and I am already 21 now. I was hoping to enroll in dental school in fall 2013 and I guess it isn't happening. Plus I won't have **** to do in the spring of the year I matriculate (2014,if I get in of course). I am probably going to have forgotten all the prereqs that i took since fall 09 and finished spring 11 since i will take the dat in summer of 2013.

I feel crushed.🙁

lol, even if you take 6 years off, you wouldn't be the oldest applicant. I know what you are going through and it feels terrible. In a few months you will get over this fact like a lot of people do. Just be happy with what you have and do your best day by day. ( easier said than done, i know)

good luck to you

this onset of paranoia and anxiety may have been caused by the BLAZIN you've been doing.

Switch careers man... You'll start dental school at what... 22 or 23? too old bro.

Get me a little violin. Really, it's common for people to start dental school in their late 20's.

Don't feed the troll. Best way to deal with them is to just ignore them.

 I really want the op to state whether or not they're serious.

Welcome to my world. I thought I was going to apply and start dental school in 2010. HaHAHAHhhaAHAHA....nope.
Then, I thought 'crap, i have to spend another year to get my GPA up before i can apply' and...it's 2011 and im not in dental school yet.

I am absolutely 100% applying next month to dental school though.
You may be one year behind. I have been put back 2 years, and have been in undergrad for 4.5 years now. I thought entering dental school at 22 was going to suck but...if I get in this coming cycle, I will be 24 by the time I start. You (and I) are young...seriously, I have had the same thoughts about the age factor. It is NOT a big deal...time will fly by fast, I PROMISE YOU lol. Don't focus on age. A lot of dental students begin when they are 27-40 years. I guarantee you will be a young dental student. Keep your chin and GPA/DAT up...and you'll be in great shape for when you decide to apply 👍

it's pretty normal just to graduate college at 22... if you check out the stats of each dental school, im pretty sure the average is 24? 25? life happens..

the dentist i'm shadowing went to d-school when he was 40!

Sorry to tell you, but it's too late to be a dentist, you may as well try another career.

I graduated from UW in '04, worked in South Korea for 5 years, and will finish my first year of prereqs (Bio, Chem, Physics) in two weeks. I'm going to apply next year, and if all goes as planned I will start DS when I am 32.

Clearly much too old. I'll be starting at the age of 25 and I'm already regretting it! OmG!

Give it up. You clearly don't have what it takes to be a dentist. Apply to medical school instead.

I will be at least 30 before I begin dental school. As I am applying again for the I don't know how many times.
