I'm applying to med schools now and getting all my secondaries in.

I was originally planning on taking orgo lab in the fall but I'm still on the waitlist for the class! Plus it takes up 10 hours of daytime class time which is a ton.

I was planning on pushing it back into the spring until i read cornell's policy which stateS: "All premedical required course work must be completed by January 31 of the year for which admission is sought. "

Does anyone know how strict this policy is?

If I can't get off the waitlist for the orgo lab and take it in the spring, does this mean my chances of getting interviewed at cornell are slim to none???

help!! 😕 😕

I am not applying to Cornell, but is there a way to explain your situation to the adcom. I think that trying to bend the rules is risky; you never know how a school will respond. But, contacting the school, explaining your situation, and documenting your concern can get you a long way to not only be considered, but also being accepted.

Maybe a call to your advisor, registrar, and/or chemistry department head is in order. If it were me, I'd do everything I could to meet requirements by their deadlines (rather than looking for exemptions).

Unfortunately, organic lab takes a ton of time, period. Regardless of semester, it will be a significant investment.
