Hi all,

I am a rising junior who is applying this cycle, and I am wondering if I am making a mistake by only applying to 3 school?

I have only applied to all of the Texas schools, but in worried that I will not be accepted. At the same time I don't want to pay a ton of money for out of state schools if I will be accepted! Thoughts?

I have an oGPA - 3.8 sGPA -3.77 DAT - 21AA, 24PAT, none < 20. URM.

Will graduating early and being young (I graduate this fall and I'm 20) affect me at all? Should I add schools or just go ahead and keep the ones I have?

It's very common for applicants with stats like yours to only apply instate. It's usually not a problem. You could apply OOS to be safe but I think it wont be a problem. Your age doesn't matter.

I just want to stop by and say congrats on those stats and best of luck to you! You're looking great!

I applied only to Louisville and Kentucky last year as a Kentucky resident and was successful. I had the same mindset, I had the greatest chance of getting into a state school so why bother.

Also, there is a member of my class that will be 20 when we start this fall. I doubt that plays into your admission consideration at all.

When I was shadowing, the dentist told me there was a student in his class that was 17.
Wow.

No I think you are fine personally. But something I would do is watch the free videos at Dentalmaverick.com I don't think age is an issue, but I do think that analyzing problems or concerns is important. There will be a lot more things you become worried about in dental school so watch these videos since they are free and learn from them as you keep going in your application process. Good luck!
