Okay guys, welp! I just took the first Kaplan Diag exam and I just finished orgo 2 last semester. Took bio 3 years ago though.

I ended up getting an AA of 14!
And a PAT score of 13!

The PAT was even half of what it is on the DAT and people seem to say the KAPLAN PAT is easier than the real one. I Really dont know what I wa doing on the PAT though and I Actually wasted time rreading instructions because I was unfamiliar with it. Nevertheless I had no idea how to do the PAT. Is there any hope for me? I am scheduled to take the DAT end of august and I am getting scared.

Have you started studying for the DAT yet? My Kaplan diagnostic scores were in the single digits and I took it before I started studying. Your scores will improve a lot once you sit down and crack those books open. The PAT also won't be as bad once you become familiar with the rules. 🙂

I would agree...my initial scores were not that hot either for the PAT. Just understanding the rules helped me improve my scores. I'll be taking the DAT in August as well...Good luck with your studies. Feel free to message me for support! 🙂

thanks guys. Good to hear I have hope. I did not start sutdying yet but I did now! lol. The PAT seems extremely difficult especially those projections and the damn pattern folding.

The PAT is the probably the easiest section to improve in. Unlike all the sciences where you have to read and absorb information, all you have to do for the PAT is practice - the more the better.

Once you familiarize yourself with the rules, start manipulating real things to help you visualize. Use legos, stack up books, picture the front end of something from behind. Cut out some patterns with paper and fold them up. Use toilet paper for hole punch practice. There are plenty of other things as well. I would recommend DAT achiever for some good practice.

My point is - you are fine. I got a 13 on my diag and a 22 on the real test. The PAT is not some "you have it or you don't" section, it simply is a matter of practice. You have plenty of time too, so don't fret about it.

Good Luck

I got a 17 on the kaplan diagnostic five days ago and like, a 15 PAT.(Thanks to NOT reading the directions for topfrontend and thinking that end meant the BACK of the object.stupid me.) I just went through all of chem once and re-did the portion of the diagnostic where the chem problems are and already I can tell that I'm starting to retain things that I've studied-its seriously all about hibernating in the library and studying, restudying, writing stuff down, doing problems, doing more problems, etc. Very doable, just tedious as hell. Good luck.
