Am I shooting myself in the foot, if I include these in my ps??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would leave out saying what you want to do after dental school, besides saying you want to help others etc. You practically mention every option a person has with a dental degree; specialize, general, teach, research. It wont really mean anything saying you want to do it all. Also, keep it positive, don't say you were disappointed with people giving free dental care, spin the experience and focus on the good things. Just state your volunteer experience and keep it unique, anyone can talk about that other stuff.

ok. thank you for your concise yet incisive advice. and congrats on your acceptance :luck:

I don't think it's bad to suggest something you might want to do after dental school, if you have an idea. But if you're just going to list every option as a possibility, that kind of loses meaning like Hawkteeth said.

I would talk about your experiences and what motivated and maybe even prepared you to pursue dentistry. If you can phrase negative things in a way that shows that you've thought about issues in the field and still end on a positive/hopeful note, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to make a mention of them as long as they are part of your journey.

I actually have talked to my pre-health counselor about what should/shouldn't be in my own PS and that's essentially what I was told. I think everyone will have a different take on this but if you're true to yourself and your journey, then I'm sure the PS will be just fine.

Those are my 2 cents.
