Wow - 16 and applying to med school! Wish I had that option! They aren't supposed to age discrimate and I assume that your interview will have to be stellar just as everyone elses. Maturity is an issue (i'm sure that will cross their mind) but there are a few young students that are in med school (couple 15-17 yo's that I am aware of). You have the same chance as everyone else. Best of luck.

I'm sure it will come up, but not sure that it will necessarily be negative. People apply to BS/MD programs straight out of high school when they are 17-18, so it might not hurt you. Is there a pre-med advisor at your school you can ask?

if your 16 and applyin to med school, you are proally more mature than most 16 yr olds, but if you are worried about your age, graduate and take a year off do travel, do work, then apply to med school when you dont have school also on your plate, i bet it would make it easier and a lot less stressful, your still young and have plenty of time

i know of several people who applied at a young age (young being 19). they had problems getting in due to their age. you'll have to prove your maturity to get in. on the other hand you have time to go get an advanced degree or some amazing volunteer work that would make you a shoe-in if you wait a few years to apply.

😉 😉 Wow, thats impressive.
I guess med schools shouldn't, but lots of younger graduates choose to take some time off just because they are young and should go and do "young things"...and then go to med school when they are *gasp* 17 or 18. But if you think you can take it, more power too you! 😉

Don't sweat it. In my class, 70 % are 19 years old. I have some young classmates who happen to be way more mature than the older people in our class. It depends on you.
