AMA Mailings

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I've seriously considered having an attorney send a cease and desist letter to the AMA to stop the decades of spam they send. Who in their right mind would be an AMA member? They sold our profession down the river and do nothing whatsoever to benefit us.
I just wish they would be honest.
“We don’t care about you but would you like to save money on your car/home/life/disability insurance? And please give us $1,000 in dues to pay for these future mailers.”

The worst for me is when they address the letters to the "billing manager" and call it a "renewal notice".

It's really dishonest and predatory.

They should be boycotted to wipe off the veneer that they "represent" anyone but themselves.

Looking into this further, it's worse than I thought.

The AMA states on its website (provided below):
"For more than 60 years, the AMA has licensed its AMA Physician Masterfile database to the health care community to serve the public good and the medical industry."

A quick google search demonstrates third parties have free access to this masterfile:
"Selectable by practice type, specialties, birth country, medical school, graduation year, residency institution, and more to target your perfect audience! These medical doctors are a great audience for Continuing Medical Education (CME), medical journals, medical equipment and supplies, recruitment, and much more."
