Looking for information regarding complex amalgam preparation for a MOD + buccal or palatal cusp reduction cavity.

Should i be reducing the cusp to the same level as the pulpal floor or just reduce 2mm in height?
Where's the ideal placement of coves, slots, and retention locks?

If anyone has any schematic diagrams for this preparation it will be much appreciated!!
Thank you for your help!

If preparation involve occlusal lesion then approximate retention grooves are unlikely to be needed. Aims to preserve marginal ridge by approaching approximate caries more obliquely. It should be reduce to 1-2mm in height. Hope this help!

Just 2mm reduction for the buccal cusp is needed. You won't need any retentive grooves because the occlusal convergence of your cavity should provide adequate retention

Just playing devil's advocate here:

If the cusp(s) is(are) undermined and will need to be removed/reduced, why is the treatment plan not a full coverage crown? Or are you using this amalgam as your buildup?
