Ambiguous PCOM-Georgia Mail

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got the same letter. I took it as "you're complete unless you want to add to your file" and "we'll get to you when we get to you".

Hi everyone… I received the following message via snail mail today at my home. I’ll reproduce it in full, then give some additional information about my application, and finally state what I don’t understand. Hopefully a few of y’all might by able to help me out…

Dear Applicant:

This is to acknowledge receipt of your supplemental application and $50 application fee to Georgia Campus – Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine for our class entering in August 2006.

We received a letter of recommendation from your premedical advisor, preprofessional committee or Dean of your undergraduate college.

Although not required, we suggest that you request a letter of recommendation from an osteopathic physician. The letter should be submitted to this office directly from the physician rather than be included with your premedical recommendation packet.

All of your credentials should be on file in this office no later than March 1, and it is your responsibility to see that everything has arrived. You are most welcome to check that your file is complete by telephone, or you may e-mail us at [email protected].

The Faculty Committee on Admissions begins to interview candidates in September and continues through April. Once you credentials are complete and the Committee determines that you are qualified, you will be invited to come to PCOM for a personal interview.

I am pleased to know of your interest in Georgia Campus – Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and look forward to evaluating your credentials. Please be sure to contact me if I can be of assistance to you in the admissions process.

Very truly yours,

XXXXX X. XXX

The recommendation packet I sent to them through my undergraduate school includes a bunch of letters, including one from an M.D.

The thing is, the letter states that it would be suggested to have a D.O. letter, though it is “not required.” But the letter goes on to say, “once your credentials are complete…” later, as if my application is not complete unless the D.O. letter is there.

So the question is, is my application complete or not? Are they just saying that they would prefer a D.O. letter at this point to make my standing better? Are they going to review me at this point or not? Why does the physician letter HAVE TO come directly from the physician and not from the premedical recommendation packet?

Thanks for the help…

Me too, I just see it as an automatic reply that they received your secondary.
